The setting
A Christmas-and-winter pokie for a change of scenery
25 Cookies: Hit the Bonus dresses a Playson game in a Christmas and winter look. Down here in Aotearoa the snow on screen is pure decoration, a festive skin you can enjoy in any month, and I reckon that is half the appeal.
It suits readers who like a seasonal theme and are comfortable with wide swings. If you are browsing winter pokies more broadly, 3 Pots of Lunar Wolf: Hold and Win pairs an animal theme with a winter setting, so the two make a good pair for comparing.
Features
The in-game jackpot and bonus rounds, in plain words
Two features do the heavy lifting here. The in-game jackpot is a jackpot prize that lives inside this pokie itself, so it works as its own layer on top of ordinary line wins and has nothing to do with the casino's promotion calendar.
The bonus rounds are the feature stages the game runs apart from the base spins. They are where a pokie of this type tends to keep its bigger moments, which is also why the gaps between them can feel long.
Back at the TAB counter the question was always "how often does it pay?". With high volatility the honest answer is "unevenly", and I would rather you plan for that than be surprised by it.
Bonus Buy
Bonus Buy: paying to skip the wait
Bonus Buy lets you pay up front to go straight into a bonus feature instead of waiting for it to turn up through the base game. That is the whole trade: you get to the feature sooner, and each buy costs noticeably more than a normal spin, so it uses up a session budget faster.
It is a feature of the pokie, separate from any casino welcome bonus. If you are working through a bonus, check the wagering terms on the Bonus page before buying, because the bonus terms decide what counts.
RTP and swings
Playson, 95.7% RTP and high volatility
Playson built this one. Its RTP is 95.7%, a little under the 96% median across the pokies in this guide, which run from 93% to 96.82%. RTP is a long-run average over an enormous number of spins, so it says nothing about how any single night will end.
Volatility is high, which describes the spread of results: long quiet stretches and occasional bigger hits are both normal, and neither is promised. The Pokies Starter Guide lays out the whole volatility scale, and if you want other games with the same swing size, the high-volatility shelf of Here2Win Casino slots has them side by side.

Who it fits
Who it fits, and the winter neighbours
It is a good fit if you want a festive look, a jackpot feature and the option of Bonus Buy, and your budget can take dry patches. It is a poorer fit if you want a gentle, steady pace, since that is low-volatility territory.
| Game | Provider | RTP | Volatility | Features |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 25 Cookies: Hit the Bonus | Playson | 95.7% | High | In-game jackpot, bonus rounds, Bonus Buy |
| 3 Pots of Lunar Wolf: Hold and Win | Betsoft | 96.1% | High | Bonus rounds, Bonus Buy |
| Big Catch Bass Fishing Christmas | Blueprint Gaming | 93% | Medium | Bonus rounds, Bonus Buy |
Big Catch Bass Fishing Christmas is the festive fishing pokie of the trio. It runs at a medium pace, but it carries the lowest RTP in this guide at 93%.
